How to apply: A new application is required each academic year through the Queen’s financial-aid application process.

• Currently enrolled in a Queen’s degree program; full-time students are eligible and part-time students are assessed individually.
• Demonstrate financial need through a study-period budget covering resources and educational and living costs.
• Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and U.S. students generally must apply for and process government student aid first.
• International students are considered only where documented extenuating circumstances have changed their available resources.
• Applications must be complete and submitted by the applicable fall, winter, or summer deadline.

How to apply: One Financial Aid and Awards Profile is used to consider eligible admission bursaries.

• Entering post-secondary studies for the first time.
• Entering first year of a full-time undergraduate degree in September or an eligible first-year program.
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person for most admission bursaries.
• Demonstrate financial need based on student and family resources and the cost of the program.
• Submit the Financial Aid and Awards Profile by the published deadline.

How to apply: Complete the applicable Financial Aid and Awards or Commitment Scholars application by its deadline.

• Entering first year of a first-entry undergraduate degree program.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Self-identify as a member of an underserved or underrepresented group covered by the award.
• Meet the citizenship or residency requirements for the specific award.
• Submit the required application and supporting information on time.

How to apply: No separate application for automatic awards. QScout will show the conditions to watch for and where the award normally appears.

• Be admitted to or currently studying in an eligible undergraduate program.
• Meet the academic standing or admission-average requirement for the specific award.
• Remain registered and meet any continued-enrollment or course-load conditions.
• Some named awards add faculty, community, leadership, or identity criteria.

How to apply: A separate graduate scholarship application is required, with the deadline set by the department or program.

• Be registered in or applying to an eligible full-time graduate program at Queen’s for the award year.
• Entering first or second graduate year: achieve an A- (first-class) average in each of the last two completed full-time-equivalent years.
• Entering third year or beyond: have at least an A- average across completed graduate courses.
• Meet the citizenship or study-permit category for the competition in which you apply.
• Submit the complete application, including required statements and references, by your department’s deadline.

How to apply: Many athletic awards have no separate student application; selection is handled with Athletics and Recreation and Financial Aid.

• Be a current student eligible to participate in Queen’s inter-university athletics.
• Be selected or supported through the applicable varsity team and Athletics and Recreation process.
• Maintain the academic and enrollment conditions attached to the award.
• Some need-based athletic bursaries may require additional financial-aid information.

How to apply: Ask your institution’s financial aid office for their Ontario Indigenous Student Bursary application. You do not need to have applied for OSAP first — this is always a separate application, whether or not you also apply for OSAP.

• Self-identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Attend a publicly-assisted Ontario college, university, or Indigenous Institute; Queen’s qualifies.
• Submit a separate application through your institution’s financial aid office — applying for OSAP first is not required.

How to apply: Ask your institution’s financial aid office for their Ontario First Generation Bursary application. You do not need to have applied for OSAP first — this is always a separate application, whether or not you also apply for OSAP.

• Your parent(s) have never participated in postsecondary studies, full-time or part-time, anywhere.
• Enrolled in a first-entry undergraduate program; second-entry programs such as law or medicine, and graduate programs, are not eligible.
• Do not already hold a postsecondary degree, diploma, or certificate.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Attend a publicly-assisted Ontario college or university; Queen’s qualifies.
